Daniel Craig has offered some rather blunt advice to the next actor who is lucky enough to take on the role of James Bond.

The 53-year-old actor played 007 for the final time in new release No Time To Die which set a new record for the franchise, earning $6.3 million (£4.6 million) on the day of the opening previews in the US.

With no clues only advice, Craig spoke to Kevin Hart on Straight From the Hart, and said: “There’s a couple of things I’d say, but I mean, one is don’t be s***.”

He then went on to add: “I would say you’ve got to grab it and make it your own. I think that’s the way to go forward.

“I mean, I just committed myself to it as much as I possibly could and tried to sort of elevate it as much as I could. I hope I’ve left it in a good place and I hope the next person can just make it fly.

“It’s an amazing franchise, I still think there’s a lot of stories to tell. The great thing about the Bond movies over the years – they’ve always changed with the times, they’ve always reflected the politics somewhat, they’ve reflected styles and fashion and music.”

When it came to being asked who he thought would be the next Bond, Craig replied: “Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, it’s not my problem.

“I’ve got enough on my plate without having to figure that one out. That’s a brain ache. I don’t need that.

“Whoever it is, you know what, they’ll find someone brilliant and it’ll be great. And I’ll be front and centre. I’ll be at the front seat of a cinema with my popcorn and a drink because I can’t wait.”

But among the more out-there suggestions is The Greatest Showman‘s Hugh Jackman- and it’s safe to say Craig wasn’t a supporter.

During an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, Craig was asked about Hugh Jackman telling him to enjoy his days of playing 007, to which he cut in with: “He’s not gonna be it… over my dead body,” he said with a smirk as Lorraine Kelly giggled.

The clip from the interview has been trending on Twitter and Hugh Jackman himself retweeted it with the response: “Well … that kills that rumor! Daniel, mate, you’ll always be 007 to me. #NoTimeToDie. I’m IN.” Jackman’s response has been retweeted more than 1,300 times.
