Congratulations are in order for Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost. On Wednesday, PEOPLE reported that Johansson and Jost welcomed their first child together. While this is the couple’s first child together, Johansson shares daughter Rose, who turns 7 in the fall, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
Johansson’s rep, Marcel Pariseau, confirmed to PEOPLE that the actor gave birth to her second child. The rep did not share any further details about the birth, including the newborn’s name or sex. The couple’s baby news comes shortly after Jost confirmed that they were expecting. Jost performed a stand-up routine in Ridgefield, Connecticut on Sunday, during which he told the audience, “We’re having a baby. It’s exciting.”
It was originally reported in early July that Johansson and Jost were expecting a child together. At the time, Page Six reported that the Black Widow star was due sometime “soon.” They noted that she had been keeping her pregnancy under wraps. A source told the outlet, “Scarlett is actually due soon, I know she and Colin are thrilled.” Another insider added, “Scarlett is pregnant but has been keeping it very quiet. She has been keeping a very low profile.”
Johansson and Jost began dating in 2017. The Avengers star and the Saturday Night Live writer became engaged in October 2019. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Johansson shared a story about how her partner proposed to her. According to the actor, Jost “killed” the proposal.
“He did, like, a whole James Bond situation. He’s got a lot behind that news desk,” she explained. “He’s very charming and very thoughtful and romantic. I was surprised. Even if you kind of imagine what the moment is going to be like, it’s still a beautiful moment. It was very special. I think more than anything when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, that just is a lovely, special thing.”
