Thomas Gibson: This is what the actor who played Aaron Hotchner in Criminal Minds looks like now

Although Thomas Gibson is now known for his iconic role in Criminal Minds , the actor had a long career beforehand. After starting acting at age nine, he continued in stage productions and trained in classical theater as a teenager. He made his first television appearance with a small commercial on the CBS legal drama Leg Work. He went on to appear in daytime dramas like As the World Turns and Another World, and then hit the big screen with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s Far and Away. He rose to television stardom in a big way thanks to his leading roles in the medical drama Chicago Hope and then the starring role of Greg Montgomery in the sitcom Dharma & Greg for which he received two Golden Globe nominations.

After so many years as Aaron Hotchne, the cool, no-nonsense leader of the BAU on Criminal Minds, fans were shocked to learn that off-screen, Thomas Gibson  had serious anger issues . Although he has been described as a “good-hearted family man,” there have been several incidents that show a much angrier side. In December 2010, Gibson was involved in an on-set incident in which he pushed assistant director Ian Woolf after the two men got into a heated argument over “security concerns”. As a result of the incident, CBS executives ordered the actor to attend anger management counseling.

In January 2013, Thomas Gibson was arrested in downtown Los Angeles for drunk driving. He was arrested after he reportedly drove through a barricade that had been put up to prevent cars from swerving off the road during an overnight half marathon. After the arrest, TMZ published a video in which Gibson had to be tackled and subdued by five police officers after he refused to take a breathalyzer and became angry.

Due to all his conflicts it is not common to see photographs of Thomas Gibson after Criminal Minds

In 2014, it was revealed that not everyone was the “big happy family” fans thought they were on the set of Criminal Minds. Thomas Gibson ‘s former manager , Craig Dorfman, filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Gibson and in the lawsuit he exposed some behind-the-scenes Criminal Minds disputes that no one knew about. Shemar Moore (Derek Morgan) and Mandy Patinkin (Jason Gideon) had allegedly “verbally attacked” Gibson at least once and Dorfman had to “dissuade Gibson from physically attacking Moore”. The lawsuit stated that Gibson had a problem with Moore because Moore “often arrived late to the set and kept everyone waiting.

Thomas Gibson ‘s personal life has remained very private over the years, Gibson married his wife Christine in 1993 and together they have three children: James Parker, Travis Carter and Agatha Marie. Gibson and his family lived predominantly in Texas, but in the summer of 2014, Gibson secretly filed for divorce from Christine, keeping him away from the media. In response, Christine filed a “general denial,” prompting Gibson to resubmit his position in December 2015.
